The General William B Bate Camp 34 Sons Of Confederate Veterans is located in Gallatin Tennessee and exists to honor the brave men who served and fought for The Confederate States Military in The War For Southern Independence 1861-1865.
SCV is a hereditary organization for male descendants of soldiers who served honorably with the Confederate States Of America, 1861-1865. We are dedicated to preservation of the history of the Confederacy so that future generations may understand the motives that galvanized the Southern Cause. Our camp joins with others in 27 states from coast to coast plus camps in Europe and South America.
Camp 34 is named to honor Major General William Brimage Bate of Sumner County Tennessee. General Bate also served as the Governor of Tennessee 1883 to 1887 when he was elected U S Senator in 1887 and served until his death in 1905. General Bate was joined in the United States Senate by Edward Ward Carmack 1901 - 1905. Both Bate and Carmack were born in Castalian Springs in Sumner County, Tennessee. Edward Ward Carmack was the author of the "Pledge to the South" as transcribed in the photo of the monument above.
We meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month, 7pm, at the offices of Joe Warren Jones, CPA, 214 East Main Street, Gallatin Tennessee - The public is invited.
You are urged to join us in our efforts toward the study of American history and community service projects. We have members who can assist you with genealogical research of your ancestors to find a loyal Confederate.
Learn for yourself the true history of America in the mid-1800's, then teach your children and others that truth. Join us in community projects such as maintenance of Confederate Circle at the Gallatin City Cemetery, disaster relief services, and our reenactment groups" The Thomas K Porter Battery CSA" and "The Sumner County Light Artillery CSA".
Do you ever wonder why we hear so much vocal resistance today, coast to coast, to centralized government from Washington D C ? The reasons today are much the same as Southerners expressed in 1861.
